Right up there with ranunculus
May 30, 2007
Peonies - another favorite flower of mine. Fragrant, feminine, and frilly. Unfortunately, these did not come from my garden. They came from Whole Foods who has great sales on flowers. At least the one here does.
I stuck them in this vintage yellow McCoy pitcher that doesn't see much light. In fact, I have a pretty decent McCoy pottery collection - started back before Fatty and I were married. Before we moved to this house two years ago, I had it all displayed together. I loved seeing in mass. Now it is all over the house - sitting on different shelves and in a neglected china cabinet. Some of it is still in a box - lame, I know. Most of my pieces are flower pots with some vases mixed in. I haven't added much to it in the last few years because the prices are sooooooo high now. I think I probably have at least 40 pieces...I should count. And then show and tell. That could be fun. Maybe I could figure out a good way to display it all in the process. What do you think? I promise I won't overwhelm you - just a little here and there. Are you guys game?
oh yes please ! Show and tell ;o)
lovely picture - nice colors and those flowers are lovely.

The flowers are lovely. I may have to run out and get some peonies myself. Apartment living's convenient but I yearn for a yard.

Wonderful picture! We have peonies in my front yard. I cut one yesterday and it now sits in a heineken bottle full of water - yep, I'm high class! Anyway, I too have a few McCoy pieces from years back. I remember always wanting the smiley face cookie jar. Can't wait to see your stuff!

I love peonies. We moved a few years ago and pass our old house daily. Funny, I don't miss the house but I do miss the peonies.

Bring 'em on! I'd love to see your collection. And I like that you have them throughout the house. Collections that are used are so much more fun than those that collect dust.

oh my!! peonies AND McCoy? were we separated at birth? haha. really great color combo there...the yellow and peach. i have quite a collection too...i focused on the cream colored ones and also have stopped collecting. i remember a MSL magazine where she featured McCoy and i thought...oh NO!! and sure enough, the prices escalated like crazy after that.
hmmm...sounds like it would make another good flickr pool...i would love to see others.

We must have the same taste in flowers, because I heart peonies and ranunculus as well. Something about that bunchy, cabbagey look.
