Tie One On - the pocket

If you have been reading this blog for awhile, you know I am a procrastinator.  So, it should come as no surprise that I didn't start thinking about the May/June Tie One On theme, the pocket, until the calendar passed the 25th.  I have many ideas - there are so many things you can do with a pocket.  Alas, I am short on time.  And for once, I was going to let it go and not get all worked up completing a project at the last minute.

Then it dawned on me.  I already made three aprons this month that were all about pockets.

These vendor aprons went to Renegade with Jen, Aprill and Meg.  I sewed a cotton prints to cotton canvas right sides together on three sides.  I turned it right side out and folded one third of the rectangle over so the cotton print side would make a band across the canvas side.  I stitched it down along the sides and then stitched dividing lines to make three pockets on each.  I added a long skinny patchwork waistband to the top enclosing the raw edges and that was it.  Nothing fancy, but it fits the pocket theme.

Of course, I made these a few weeks ago and submitted them at the last minute.  Do you think I will ever learn?

love your fabric combinations. and procrastination is okay sometimes!

Mama Urchin

Really cute, and conveniently done.

That's a great way to construct those. I've made a few like that (including the patchwork one in my banner) and could never figure out what the proper construction was. I always end up with somewhat bulky seams because I'd hem the pocket, and then hem the apron body too.

I loved those aprons then and love them now. Good for you for remembering in the nick of time.

Ha! I somehow was living in the delusion that I still had time to participate this month until I just read this post. Oops! How did time creep up on me like this again?
Love your submissions!

Ah, a quality that I love about you - you are a fabulous procrastinator, and yet you always pull through (and pull through splendidly, may I add) in the end.

Hey, at least you did it! And they are so cute!!! You have a great eye for fabric combinations. Oh... and I took out the shirring on that shirt and started over with REALLY loosely wound bobbin thread and it's working! I'll let you know, but I think I may have a cute shirt for myself out of it!

The apron's are fantastic. I love the colour combo's. As far as procrastinating goes...you do always seem to pull through so I really see no reason to change!!
