So much more
August 27, 2007
Dawn and I had a little swap. One of her Love Creatures in exchange for a twirly skirt. Well, imagine my surprise when I opened the package and found Gloria
Oh my! TWO! Indeed, I am a lucky girl. I knew I was getting one made out of the green floral fabric, but the little patchwork guy was such a great surprise. They are both so adorable - I just love them! Of course, the girls thought the rabbits were for them. Ha! Well, I guess I should share. I just don't want to! There were some other little goodies in the package including some different teas and Pocky sticks (all gone - I did share that!). Thanks Dawn! You are so nice and extremely talented. You really spoiled me.
While I was in the thick of the encyclopedia of me, Dawn tagged me for eight random things. Although I feel that there can't be too much more to tell, here goes:
1. I was a History major in college. If I could do it all over again, I would study graphic art.
2. During the school year I work five hours a week setting up and printing invitations at a very nice stationery store. Yes, only five hours. I have been working there since I was pregnant with Jane. When the kids were smaller, I would work one Saturday a month.
3. People pay me good money to address invitations and write out place cards. I used to do calligraphy, but now I mostly just use my regular handwriting. It's a great gig because if I am busy, I can say no to a job and heck, I get to work while in my p.j.'s.
4. My freshman year college roommate is now on Saturday Night Live. I lost touch with her, but she is a great person, very fun and nice. She totally deserves what she has worked hard to get.
5. I eat the same thing for breakfast every day. Right now I am on an oatmeal with nectarines kick.
6. It annoys me to no end when drivers don't use their turn signals.
7. I go to the grocery at least four times a week. At least. I am not a good meal planner so I find myself shopping for one or two days at a time. Sometimes I do big shops to get all the basics, but more often than not I just pick things up as we need them.
8. I have seen Breezer in the back yard. I wasn't convinced before, but now I really do believe in ghosts.
You know Amy Poehler? That is so cool!!
I tend to get on breakfast kicks where I eat the same thing every day.

I've been tagged for 8 things too, but I think I'm just boring because I can't come up with anything.
I eat the same breakfast every day too. Right now it's Shredded Wheat and banana.
I have recently started planning meals and am now down to 2 grocery store visits a week (and one on the weekend). We'll see how long this lasts, but I figure I can save about $200 a month off the grocery bill by not putting non-list stuff into the cart 4or 5 times a week.

OH Erin....thanks so much for such a WONDERFUL posting. You are such a nice and talented person!! WE LOVE our twirly skirt, top and headband very much!!!xo It annoys me when people don't use the turn signals as well...especially when they cut me off too. We also go to the grocery store too often but lately I am trying to 'use what we have' instead of going so much...it costs a fortune. That's cool you get paid to do invitations. That's cool Amy was your roomie...she is so funny. Thanks again Erin for the amazing trade and I would love to do it again someday. xoxo :)

Oh, I love Amy Poehler!
I have nice handwriting. How can I get an addressing gig like that?

i get on breakfast kicks for months of at a time! that one sounds pretty yummy to me! and those bunnies? to die for!

Oats and nectarines - yum. I too tend to go to the grocery store too often. Planning a meal a week in advance does not seem to work too well.

Hi Erin - The bunnies are so cute! Like your blog and your eight random facts - they made me smile :-)

i also eat the same thing for breakfast everyday, and i'm on oatmeal right now, too (but i eat mine with peanut butter and honey). and, i'm with you on the grocery store, too - my brain seems incapable of planning for the week, shopping for the week, and then cooking and serving what i've planned all week. two days is much better for me, too. glad to have company in that!

the bunnies are amazing. love, love, LOVE them!
I wish you were my neighbor so that when you're at the grocery store 4/wk you could pick up all the things I forget every time I go!!! :)

I'm a breakfast creature of habit, too. Right now it's peaches in yogurt with honey (preferably that decadent, fat-filled Greek yogurt with the little honey compartment attached) for me.
I'd love to see a sample of your handwriting. I have a thing for pretty, unusual, and/or stylish handwriting. Mine's pretty good, but I doubt anyone would pay me to hand-write things for them. Nice gig you've got there!

I am envious of people with beautiful handwriting. I hear you on the breakfast thing and the grocery shopping!

The bunnies are adorable but my favourite would have to be Brady as that's my sons name!
I am jealous that you have nice hand writing mine is ATROCIOUS!!!

i was a history major too, and also wished i had gone to school for something creative. i hate drivers that don't use turn signals. that's when i say sarcastic things like "thanks, buddy" and then charlie says "who's your buddy?"
Posted by: meg | August 27, 2007 at 09:34 PM
I eat the same thing for breakfast too...it just makes it easier I think...Im on a granola with strawberries and blueberries kick lately.
Posted by: Eren | August 27, 2007 at 09:50 PM
I went to school for Graphic Arts. (the printing side of the business, not the designing.)
I would recommend not visiting Michigan, because it is RARE to see anyone using a turn signal. At least that has been my experience.
LOVE the bunnies. what a great swap!

Wouldn't you know, even after a complete encyclopedia, there's still a host of interesting Erin-ness? I love it! BTW, i saw a biggo "E" at an antique store this last weekend. It was about 3 feet tall and, are you ready... GREEN!!!! If It weren't $125 and if I could have imagined how to ship such a thing, I would have gotten it for you :-)
Posted by: Stefani | August 28, 2007 at 01:43 AM
oh, you always get great mail!
i can eat the same thing for dinner everyday...miso soup and fish.

You just made me cry, because as I sit hear my glorious 5-year old black lab sits at my feet as he always does. He is the perfect dog & I'll be sad when he goes.

Very cool that you know Amy. She's one of the best on SNL right now. And you do have nice hand writing. :0)

those bunnies are amazing! just when i think i've had enough of the plush...
Posted by: jenny | August 29, 2007 at 12:23 AM
I so agree with you about drivers not using turn signals. Are they just supremely lazy? or have they decided not to communicate with the outside world in even the slightest way?
Posted by: lulu | August 29, 2007 at 11:52 AM
You came up with a pretty good list of 8 things! Fun to read:)
