The randomness of my thoughts
November 28, 2007
This morning I have been to the post office, Target and Toys R Us. I think I have everything I need for the soon-to-be 8 year-old's birthday this weekend. I snagged some goodies for Christmas, too. Jones Candy Cane Soda, anyone? Sounds delicious to me. Gingerbread Man didn't sound as appealing, but if anyone has tried it, I'd love to hear your verdict.
Yeah, more knitting. This time it is a Christmas gift for Kate. A sweet hooded poncho like the one Kristin made. The brown yarn in the bag is to make one for Jane. So far, they haven't asked what I am making. I think I am going to have to limit this to nights and carpool time. Then they surely won't be able to figure it out. They want me to make them hats, too, and are very specific that they have ear flaps and pom poms. Allrighty then - that is what I will do.
I need to go outside and rake today. It's supposed to be in the high 50's and then the temperature is going to drop so I think this is my last chance. The Christmas tree will be put up tomorrow and decorated on Friday night just in time for the birthday party on Saturday. I also want to start on my Christmas cards. I ordered prints of the photos so I just need to get over my huge fear of my print gocco. Encouraging words welcomed.
I am participating in the Holiday Ornament Exchange again this year. Again, I am at a loss as to what to make. I was thinking embroidery on felt like last year, but my design is rather elaborate. I just don't think I could get 10 done and in the mail by the 10th. I have two back up ideas, though. I guess I should just pick one and run with it.
Speaking of runs, I could use some exercise today too. Other than leaf raking, that is. Time to get on it. Later gators.
i love that poncho. can't wait to see it on your girls. and the hats, too cute.
dying to hear about your first go at the gocco. dying, really.
happy raking!

Raking is great exercise!
You're a busy busy woman today. You've shamed me into getting my day moving too. Thanks!

My lordy woman, you're one busy bee!

What weird parallels. I went to the post office yesterday, and I have to go to Target and Toys R Us today! AND we're decorating our tree tomorrow night in anticipation of a birthday party here on Saturday. Weird!
I'm thinking of selling my Gocco on Ebay to further my quest for the Baby Lock Imagine. I'm interested to hear how it goes for you, though. I just think maybe it was overly ambitious of me to think that was something I would actually have the time to do. And procuring all the supplies when they run out... ack, I just don't know. It still sits unopened in the closet.

i'm thinking of using my gocco for christmas cards this too. i always put off using it for projects and then once i do, i think "this is so easy! why don't i use it more?" DO IT!!!
you're knitting is making me want to knit and i've never knit before. i don't think i can take on anything else this season! love it all.

what an organized woman you are!

Can't wait to hear how to gocco comes out. My husband had a huge screen printing machine in our garage for a couple of years for a t-shirt biz. This sounds much more manageable!

oh erin, don't fear the gocco. i let mine sit for ages too before mustering up the nerve to use it, but you'll see that it's really easy and such fun. i know you'll rock the gocco!

Encouraging words of gocco-ness, I have those. I just used mine for the first time this weekend, and was totally anxious about it, for some reason. But once I got going, it was all good, because it is so fun, and not scary in the slightest. I plan to post about it as soon as I get pictures loaded.

libby wants a hat with flaps and braids....!

erin. just give it a shot. with the gocco. it is super easy. after your first couple of cards ... you'll be laughing. email me if you have any questions. i need to make mine, too. this weekend.

the gocco is wonderful! and not hard at all, i swear. the only thing that might be tricky at first is getting the registration right if you are doing a border or something that you're incorporating other art into. otherwise it is honestly a breeze! you'll wonder what you were so worried about once you get started, i promise.

love the poncho!

Wow, you sound very busy! And knitting two sweaters by Christmas? Well, I'll be lucky to get a few little knitting projects done. You give me a bit of inspiration, though (and I LOVE that sweater pattern)!

Gosh I did the Post Office, Target and Toys r Us today too but my daughter's Birthday party is not until the 15th and she will only be 2! I'm glad you are also procrastinating over the ornaments - I have a few ideas up my sleeve but haven't quite put them into action yet. I LOVE the poncho and after seeing your extremely cute ornament from last year I'm delighted to be in your group!

I hope you got your leaves raked, Erin, because drat it's cold now, eh? sigh. Winter is here.
Btw, I have a child who will be 8 in just a couple weeks. I'm scrambling now to come up with ideas for a party! Hmmm...wonder if 8-year-old boys love Candy Cane Soda?!

This is my first year in the ornament exchange and I get a new idea everyday but have not acted on any yet! I need to pick one as well.
Go for the gocco! My recommendation is to cut up scrap paper to the exact size of your good paper and practice a few times lining everything up (my gocco is full of pen marks and tape) and making sure the ink coverage is even. That way you do not feel bad if you wasted a good piece of paper. You will have tons of fun and more cards than people to send to before you know it! :)

that pattern is great and love the color.

Where can I find the poncho pattern? We are in Portland, OR. Who is it by? It looks amazing. Wish I had made that one for my girlie girl but maybe I can.
