The pity party is over
March 20, 2008
My week has not gone so well and I have spent the past two days whining about it. No more. Today I got my sorry ass moving and accomplished something.
I had finished this quilt top over the weekend. Today I pieced the back, basted and then quilted it.
If all goes as planned, I will get to the binding tonight.
It feels good to be excited about something. Now if I can just keep up this momentum.....
That is so adorable that I can hardly stand it. Oh my gosh. What are the dimensions?

Oh my...I am delurking to let you know how much I love that quilt!!! I would love something like that for my son's room (if he will ever sleep in there)...now I just need to learn how to quilt lol! Thanks for the great inspiration!

That is pretty darn cute, my dear. Those are some of the straightest quilting lines I've ever seen. The quilting part is always the part that I get stuck on. Need walking foot. Keep procrastinating on buying it.
I'm glad you're feeling better.

So fantastic! You did that all in a weekend? My quilt projects all seem to take me eons.
Great job!

You accomplish more in one week than I seem to in months. I think you're entitled to a couple days off.
Your elephant is adorable!!! So cute.

My little one loves elephants and would be mesmerized by this!
Did you use heat and bond for your applique?

I've been reading (and loving) your blog for a while but when I saw the elephant I felt the need to de-lurk and tell you how lovely it is. I've been labouring over my first quilt for ages now. I do admire the amount of finished things you produce. Anyway, well done, it's gorgeous.

The quilt looks fabulous, but you need to share how you did it and did I see a strip of blue in the backing?
Posted by: annzy | March 20, 2008 at 05:53 PM
You are SO creative! I love that cheery elephant! :) And this may be the dumbest question ever, but I'm new to this quilting thing, and I want to know how you quilted such a symmetrical grid.

Just love this quilt! My little brother never went anywhere as a toddler without his blue elephant named E - this would have been perfect for him! I'll file it away in case he has a little boy of his own someday.

What a lovely quilt! I really like that grey fabric you chose for the background. It's a great contrast with the elephant applique.

That is the cutest. What are your plans for it?
Sometimes we just have to talk to ourselves and take control of those rotten emotions. Good for you.

what is it with this week? my lack of posts is completely related to my week and lack of inspiration. it's been a tough one in our household, too. is it spring fever?
Anyway, moving on...i LOVE that quilt. I was crushing on it over on your flickr pages. it is amazing. that gray is just beautiful with quilted squares!

AHHHHH. That is the cutest quilt I have seen in months. I LOVE it! I need to know a few details about it. How did you do an elephant? How did you get such great straight lines to your quilting? Do you have a measurement on your foot that spaces it out? Do you use a walking foot? It looks perfect, did any puckering occur? And it looks like you didn't even use that many pins to keep it all in place. I am just getting interested in machine quilting quilt myself. So sorry for the questions, but inquiring minds gotta know!

Pretty cute! Love the elephant!

I love this quilt. I really want to learn to quilt. Did you do the quilting on your machine? I'm so impressed. I make quillos all the time, but don't do any actual quilting. Sometimes I'll tack the areas down...but I wouldn't consider it quilting by any means. Your quilting is so exact! Good Work!

Oh, my goodness. Elephants are my absolute favorite... I've even got them permanently on my arm! Do you know of a good book or tutorial on how to do appliques? I'm quite afraid to try, especially with my little cheapo brother sewing machine. Any suggestions? xoxo

Gaping open-mouthed. I have never met anybody who was that well organized for christmas presents. Not even my sister, and she's not unlike the white rabbit in 'Alice in wonderland', always having the ticking clock in mind.
