Top of the morning
May 19, 2008
Hello! I finished piecing the hourglass quilt top this morning. There was a moment last week when I thought that I would have to rip out a number of squares and re-do them, but it came together surprisingly well. Phew. I'm hoping to get this basted and quilted this week. Then it's back to the string-x one. I've been (over)thinking about what to do for the back. I've got a quasi-plan so once I get the backing finished, I'll be ready to quilt it, too.
Also, I am looking for some vintage sheet scraps. Nothing too big, say from 6" x 6" to 10" x 10". If anyone has any they are willing to part with, I'd be happy to send you something little in return. Drop me an email and I will forward on my address. Thanks.
I have an old pillowcase - I'm not sure how big it is. I cut it to be the lining of a bag and then abandoned that idea. It's definitely bigger than 6 x 6, though. If you want it, it's yours!

This quilt top is looking so great! I can't wait to see the whole thing. And I'm really impressed that you manage to get things done in the morning. If only I could convince myself to get up an hour earlier (instead of sleeping half an hour past the alarm!) so I could get something done before I have to work.... Looking forward to hearing what you have planned for the vintage sheets!

I too have been dreaming of the hour glass quilt that AmandaJean did, but you actually made it! Wow! It's wonderful! Will you bind it without any borders? Please post when done. I do have some vintage sheet pieces I can send you. I made P.J. pants with them and have lots left over.

Unfortunately I do not have any sheet pieces for you - but I just wanted to tell you how lovely that quilt looks! You create wonderful quilts - such a great eye for colors and combinations. It has given me the itch to make a quilt. :)

I have some scraps left from making my daughter a twirly skirt from an old pillow case with your tutorial. I'll gladly send you the scraps as a token of appreciation for you sharing the tutorial. If you'd like to see what the fabric looks like, you can see the skirt in the twirly skirt flickr pool. My id is cebbtn. I'm pretty sure the fabric is a cotton blend though, if that matters.
