Lounging
July 24, 2008
The night before we left home for Telluride, I found myself all packed with time to spare. Can you believe it? Good ol' procrastinating me with time to spare! That was definitely a first. What's a girl to do? Sew, of course.
I decided it was high time that I make myself some wide-leg lounge pants from Amy Butler's In Stitches. So many crafty bloggers have made them and they all love them, so I thought why not? I wish I had some wonderful vintage sheet to use, but I didn't. It doesn't matter - I love them anyhow!
The wide leg part is just that: wide. At first I thought they were maybe a bit too wide, but the more I wear them, the more I love them. I will definitely make these again. Not only are they super comfy, they were fast to make. It took me 2 hours to make these from the time I started tracing the pattern to pulling the drawstring through the casing. I did use my serger for all the seams I could which probably sped it up a bit. Now that I have the pattern ready to go, I imagine the next pair will come together even faster.
I love vacation. And lounging. Lounging on vacation? Bliss.
omg. i am the first one here! hehe. love the pants - i can't believe that i actually made myself a pair too - from a link on your site a while back! but seeing those on you remind me: i want more. must make another pair!

I want to make those lounge pants too, but I keep putting off getting the book. They look soooo comfy and awesome. And cute! I love the fabric you used.

They look great. You beat me to it, I borrowed my friends' copy of the book to make my own pattern for them and had to give it back before I got round to making any- well, it had been 6 months!!

Only you would whip up a pair of lounge pants right before you're headed off to vacation (at least only you would be able to make them so cute in such a short amount of time). And I can't believe that you were ready early. Your last-minuteness is one of your most endearing qualities!

Definitely on my to-do list. I love the wide legs.

Ok, I am so in love with these pants and have seen them well, every. where. Is every one buying this book or is there a pattern sneaking around the blogosphere??
Posted by: Katie | July 24, 2008 at 01:15 PM
I've made two pairs of those, but I didn't use the AB pattern just another one I had (that was already cut out!) that I love. I made mine from sheets and they're fabulous. Although, I must say I truly love the fabric you chose!!
Posted by: Margot | July 24, 2008 at 01:23 PM
love them. I made two pairs for myself using jewsey knit so i can wear them out of the house! so comfy.
Posted by: katie | July 24, 2008 at 01:30 PM
I love your fabric - even if it isn't a vintage sheet. :) I have copied the pattern too - now I just need to find some time and I'll have a pair too.

Looks very comfy. And your toes look cute as well!

These are great. I think the fabric has a slightly vintage-esque quality to them.
Now, what was that you're knitting? Vacation is not vacation without knitting.
