Packing List
A little thank you gift

Virtual Quilting Bee - My turn

We made it to Telluride in a respectable time, unlike last year.  Phew.  There was a flurry of activity at our house the last couple of days before we left.  I mailed off something like twenty-eight packages, some of which were for the Virtual Quilting Bee.

I chose these Denyse Schmidt prints from my stash because I have always wanted to make a quilt from them, but just haven't gotten around to it.  I sent the other 11 ladies each one fat quarter and kept the floral in the top right for my own square because I only had a small piece.

I asked the others to make me a nine patch square using the fabric I sent for the middle squares on each side.  They can choose a second fabric that contrasts or coordinates for the corner pieces and a third print or solid for the center.  I'm going for a look similar to the ones in this photo.  Mine still needs some work - I will take it apart when I get home and change the center square to a third print.  When I have all twelve squares in my hands, I will probably sash them together using white and maybe add some other prints where the corners meet.  I am looking forward to seeing what these ladies come up with.

Thanks for the packing list love....I am going to work on a master list that will be available for download in the next couple of weeks.  Also, although I will be posting on the blog while on vacation, I am going to take a break from responding to comments.  Please know that I read them all and really appreciate every single one.  Thanks.

Back tomorrow with news on what was in fifteen of the other packages I sent.

I love the colors! Turquoise is always a fave for me! Good choices! Have a good vacation!

What a pretty little square you made there! Love the colors. Can't wait to see it all done!

That's going to be gorgeous, Erin! Have fun ;-)

Mama Urchin

This is going to be such a stunning quilt.

I love these fabrics and the simplicity of the blocks will really show them off.

Ooohhh!!! I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Hope it's lovely in the mountains. I miss the mountains.

What a fantastic idea! Can't wait to see more...

Have a wonderful vacation- I can't wait for the packing list download. Even big people like me need packing lists, or else I forget things like toothbrushes, etc.!

I'm so excited about your fabrics for the bee. you are going to end up with one very pretty quilt.

I got my lovely fabric in the mail on Saturday, LOVE your idea for the nine patch squares, this will be fun and not too taxing for my brain ;)

I'm so jealous you had these in your stash. I came back to quilting after this fabric was pretty much gone. I've been searching for it forever. So, I guess I'll oogle it virtually. I'm looking forward to seeing what these ladies make for you. Excellent choices!

that is going to be one awesome quilt!

(and how lame am i that everytime i read a quilting bee post i'm all "woe is me, woe is me" and yet i haven't completed one quilt yet. i'm a dork.)

You are just a flurry of activity lady and not responding to comments - take a vacation! Please! And if you do sporadically then you will keep us guessing, hold us humble commenters rapt!

That quilt will become wonderful! Love the fabrics. Have some in my stash... waiting!
Happy vacation!

That is a flurry of activity! The quilt squares look wonderful - I love Denyse Schmidt's fabrics but have never purchased/used any yet.
