About Domesticity

I have spent the last few weeks reading The Gentle Art of Domesticity by Jane Brocket.  The book arrived on my doorstep, courtesy of STC Craft.

Reading this book was a comfort to me.  I loved the way Jane explored the things that she loves to do, which are coincidentally some of the things I like too.  Beyond the sewing and the knitting, her ponderings struck a chord with me on so many levels.  The photos are inviting, the words captivating and the tone welcoming.  I didn't read her blog before I read this book, but I will now.  It's that wonderful.

And lucky for you, I have an extra copy for sharing.  If you would like the book, leave a comment on this post before Saturday, September 13th and I will use the random number generator to choose a winner.

Hope you are having a great day.

Oh! Oh! Pick me. Please pick me.

Oh yes I'd love to win this book - I have been wanting to get it forever!! I love all the domestic arts:)

I found your web page in the book "A is for Apron" which I am really enjoying. How great the web can be a tool to connect kindred spirits! I too love home crafting (knitting, sewing, cooking, gardening and mothering of course.) Thanks for putting my name in the hat for the book.

thank you for sharing this book with us! I"m always eager to sit down with a good book and learn something new!

Thanks for the review. I have been eyeing this book and it is nice to finally see a review.

Sounds like something I'd love for my collection - just the kinds of things I love to do. Thanks!

I've heard so many great things about this book. It's generous of you to share with some lucky reader :)

September 13th is my birthday so maybe I'll get lucky! Thank you for sharing. :)

I really could use some help running my house.

me too!

Judging the cover, it looks like it would be a beautiful book.

I enjoy your blog considerably! You've actually inspired me to sew clothing (I'm a quilter). Keep posting please!

Oooh, put my name in the hat, please! :0)

Erin, how nice of you to do this. I would love to see this book. I just bought a house this past year and have finally gotten to start nesting. It is so nice to see all my books around, pictures on the wall and all my craft stuff organized and easy to find. I get the greatest pleasure out of curling up at home on a rainy day and just stitching, or cooking, or beading.
I almost never want to leave.

How lovely. I am crossing my fingers so tightly hoping it is my name that is selected.

How wonderful! Thank you so much for offering the book!

Me please! You wouldn't believe the silly price they're asking for this in Borders here in Australia...

Is it just me, or is photo of the skein on the ankles is pretty sexy? Love it!

I'm so happy being domestic is "the cool thing" again! I've always loved it, it's just wonderful to see that so many women are re-embracing it! I've been eyeing this book at the bookstore since I learned of its existence: the pictures on the cover are so inviting! I'd love to win it!

I love domesticity! This seems like just the kind of book I've been wanting to curl up with. How sweet of you to share with us!

looks awesome!

I love your blog, though it's a double-edged sword at times both inspires me and frustrates me. All the things I'd like to do, and cannot find the time for at this stage in my life - two children under 5, living a school free life, working from home 20 hours a week minimum, blahblahblah. Sometimes I come to look at the photos you post, and just breathe in deeply thinking, My time will come, my time will come. And I'll keep reading til then, and for long after. Thanks,

Anne Kapinus
