One trick pony
October 21, 2008
I cannot get enough of this yarn. It's Malabrigo and it's a dream. I'm on my third pair of mitts using it and the hat I knitted last week was with it too. I sent some to Emily because I am sure that you can't help but get your knitting mojo back if you have this yarn in your hands. I abandoned my February lady sweater after the power came back on, but now I am motivated to get back on it. I should fess up and tell you that I am contemplating scrapping what little I have done and starting over with Malabrigo. It's that tempting.
Oh it IS yummy! Such a wonderfully high 'squoosh' factor (btw: when I worked in a shop 'squoosh' was most definitely a technical term).

can't remember what your sweater began in, but have worked with Malabrigo and love it too. my new big fav is eco-wool. i've done hats, mitts and now a sweater in it. so soft. i say start over :)

The Malabrigo is definitely hard to resist. I'm not going to tell you to rip out the FLS you're working on now, but I'm doing my FLS in it, and it is turning out to be very gorgeous!! And I think Kristin said she was ordering lots of green Malabrigo. Just sayin'.

Oh, I am really beginning to love this yarn! Your last post using it was so nice but this pic is even more inviting!; lol...
Can you tell me where can I find this yarn online?
Posted by: celia | October 21, 2008 at 09:58 AM
ohh, that yarn is the perfect fall sweater color. Great choice!

I maintain that being a one trick pony isn't so bad if it's a really good trick :)

I had my Malabrigo cowl on this morning, it is so nice to have that against your skin!

Oh my, I don't need any yarn temptation...
Posted by: beki | October 21, 2008 at 10:13 AM
I can't seem to find it at my LKS. I looked. Hard. This weekend.

This makes me want to march myself to the yarn shop and start a new project! It def that time of year to get the needles out.
Posted by: tams | October 21, 2008 at 10:54 AM
gorgeous! I love to fondle Malabrigo, but I never knit with it because I feel like it'll felt if I look at it cross-eyed. Maybe I'll get a toe wet with handwarmers.
I do think that the FLS would be gorgeous in Malabrigo. Would it end up being so special that you don't want to wear it? I made mine out of sturdy yarn so I could wear it to death. It's a little more granny looking that way, so I may make another one out of a more delicate yarn.

oh yes. malabrigo. i made a neck warmer with it last year.
i can't believe that i haven't bought more.
note to self!

seriously, i would only knit with malabrigo if i could. my poncho from last fall was malabrigo. it's too good, this stuff. wound one ball of what you sent this morning...

I too am addicted to Malabrigo! I love both the chunky and the worsted weights. A few weeks back I discovered the Dolores Park cowl pattern on Ravelry and can't quit making them - using the Malabrigo chunky. My holiday gifts will be Malabrigo galore.

PS I just finished a Feb Lady Sweater (Dream in Color classy, yarn). I'm pleased with the way it came out, but found myself wondering how much more heavenly it'd have been in Malabrigo.

Oh no, yarn temptation...
Posted by: Ali | October 21, 2008 at 12:02 PM
Oh, I LOVE Malabrigo! I can see why you are loving it so much. It is pure heaven to work with.

Mmmmm, Malabrigo. Such yummy yarn. I say you start over on the FLS with Malabrigo, then you have no regrets!

That is such a pretty gray. Dang, you all are making me want to learn to knit. No more hobbies. No more hobbies.

I'm making my February Lady Sweater with Malabrigo. It's the first time I've used their yarn and I love it. And it is beautiful for the pattern. You can see all of the FLSs made of Malabrigo on Ravelry!

I agree. Malabrigo is like butt-ah, and it knits up so quickly. Enjoy it! The color is gorgeous.

I can tell it's nice yarn without even feeling it. I just love me a good yarn!
Posted by: Cynthia | October 21, 2008 at 01:17 PM
It looks very soft. I've discovered a lovely yarn store pretty close to me so I may have to go see if they have this.

I couldn't agree more. Usually I'm not a single-ply kind of girl, but this yarn is special.

Now that you are talking mitts...I was wondering if you sell the mittens like the ones in the magazine pictures that you were feature on. Somerset Life??

Great color! My favorite color they make is pink ice, I think that is what it is called.

Malabrigo is soooo nice! It's not hard to want to make things over and over again with it. :)
Posted by: tiennie | October 21, 2008 at 03:28 PM

Posted by: theresa/t does wool | October 21, 2008 at 08:03 PM
Than yarn is so smooth...I can't blame you for all your projects with this yarn.

rip it! the Malabrigo is so yummy i want to eat it!
one question though-- will it pill because it isn't plied?
Posted by: kate | October 21, 2008 at 10:08 PM
the last thing I need now is a yarn addiction. but this looks like a perfect place to start.
Posted by: amandajean | October 21, 2008 at 11:12 PM
Which Malabrigo are you using? Just wondering, since they make various yarns. Haven't had the pleasure of working with it, but it looks lovely.

I started a cabled headband last week for Emma and have taken it apart and started over 8 times. Maybe I should switch to this yarn.
Posted by: blair | October 22, 2008 at 01:25 AM
Okay. I dreamt last night that I was knitting. Seriously. Do you think thats a sign?
Posted by: caroline | October 22, 2008 at 06:23 AM
I already have a problem with fabric. I can't, can't get started with yarn too!
or could i??
I love the color of that one you've shown.

I heartily endorse Malabrigo as a yarn for neck wear, but espcially for sweaters. A February Lady Sweater knit with Malabrigo might be the most decadent garment ever!
Posted by: nova | October 22, 2008 at 11:14 AM
You know, I have yet to use this yarn (gasp!). I need to get some ASAP and make myself some mitts. I could definitely use them today.
Posted by: Leslie | October 22, 2008 at 12:16 PM
Oh, Malabrigo, I want to marry you.
Posted by: Grace | October 22, 2008 at 01:34 PM
why is that yarn so pretty? ooooooo, it just is... I think I want some.
Posted by: dorie | October 23, 2008 at 10:07 PM
Oooo the power outage renewed my knitting love. Something about knitting by candlelight...
Posted by: Angie | October 24, 2008 at 04:14 PM
i can totally relate with wanting to knit everything in malabrigo. hmmm, maybe i should put aside the cascase 220 that i've been trying to use for my feb lady and...no, no, no. keep on', keepin' on!
