I'm working on...
We lost power. Again.

Randomness and a dose of reality

I've been working on the auction quilts - I have one ready for binding and if all goes well, the other will be at that stage tonight.  Truth be told, I am ready to be finished with these.  More than ready, actually.  There are so many other things I want to make.  Soon.  That's what I keep telling myself.

The girls are home from school today - we got about an inch of snow.  It's kind of sleeting outside now, so it's not even fun to go out and play in it.  I have an arsenal of craft ideas for them.  Hopefully something will sound interesting.  If not, I guess we will bake.  I have some ripe bananas waiting to be made into bread.  And of course, we can always make cookies.

And because I hate posting without a photo, I'm going to share one of my 365 outtakes with you.

Yes, those are bolts of fabric shoved behind a door.  Maybe I can deal with that today, too.  Then again, maybe not.

I get the feeling, winter is moving kind of slow. Snow days, colds, "too cold" kind of days to go somewhere, etc. I guess the only thing to do is to spend quality time with the little ones. enjoy!!

jess

Mmmm. banana bread sounds good to me.
I can't seem to keep up with my 365 pictures, you have inspired me to take one right now.

Amy

I hope the day turns out cozy warm and productive. This northeasterner finds it humorous that they close schools for an inch of snow!

martha

I say the fabric stays -it's 'decor':)
and I'm eating banana bread right now that Ken made -and my secret is to toast it in the toaster -makes is extra good on a cold morning.

Julie

We got snow this morning too but it didn't start until about 5:45 so it was too late to call school 2 hours late. Man - I was BEGGING for 2 hours late!!! Happy snow day!

anina

Oooh! Are those decorating fabrics? Yummy!

Pam

Wow, that's a lot of fabric! Enjoy the slushy day. We're waiting for sleet to hit. Baking sounds good!

anna

i will take those bolts of fabric off your hands. lol!

Norma

My dad was an upholsterer, my husband is an upholsterer and we have many bolts of fabric. I LUV the smell of fabric stores and upholstery stores. I go to Queen Bee here in Portland and I swoon from the smell of the upholstery shop smell made from all the vinyl they have. Mmmmmmmm.

BTW, the best way to store your fabric is horizontally and not vertically. Sorry to inform you but it's precious cargo. :)

Have you checked out www.soulemama.com She has a wonderful book that I've discovered with how to bring out the creativity in your kids and her blog has oodles of ideas too. Maybe she'll have some new ideas for you too.

Julie (Knitsational)

I also have projects in the works that I'm itching to get through to go on to other ideas. I keep wanting to just shove them aside and dive in!

Btw, I'm having a giveaway on my blog this week.

Grace

I love that you have fabric shoved behind a door. It's perfect in every way. xoxoxox

Mama Urchin

I'm having trouble keeping my two entertained as well. Too bad I didn't get to the library yesterday.

molly

our kids are home today, too -- lightly falling snow for 5 hours = 2". we might start some valentines or something after little guy goes down for nap.

Those bolts of fabric look GREAT!

Isn't it a drag to be done with a project before you're actually done? That happens to me all the time. Clearly, I'm a process over product person. The drive to work this morning took forever through our lovely snowy/icy roads was just oh, so fun, and I'm not looking to the 45 mile commute home. I've already declared tomorrow a snow day for myself.

I love a good stockpile of crafty goodness.

misschris

That is a lot of fabric back there, erin... slipcovers? curtains? I'm so curious.

leslie

i'm very curious about that shoved-behind-the-door fabric! and i hope those quilts could finish themselves!

beki

So, what home decor projects do you have in mind for those bolts? Curious minds want to know :)

leslie

no school here today. i am so happy that i didn't have to pack lunches. :)
and like i said.......i love that door!

Gretchen Skovron

No school here also. No idea what I'm going to do with the kids. Baking sounds nice but I just cleaned the kitchen yesterday...should have planned that out better. wish you well!

Jess

I think the same thing about the ironing. I have a never ending dress (it wraps round twice) and top with amazing ruffley shoulders which look tremendously awfully when just off the washing line :S But Oh to have whole rolls of fabric....

Tory

Oooh, what do you have planned?

amandajean

i'm trying to power through a few projects so i can quilt for fun again. it's been awhile!!!

Sandy

I love those stripes! Awesome picture.
