Pillow Week Challenge Wrap Up
November 16, 2010
I said I'd be back Sunday and it's Tuesday. Life, you know.
I didn't manage any pillow action on Saturday as I was busy hosting a paper doll birthday party for Kate. More details on that later. But, back to the pillows... Sunday night I whipped up one more for the family room couch. It's 18" square with piping and I'm kind of kicking myself for not buying more than 1 yard of this fabric because I really want to make one more just like it. I probably could have made it work had I thought it through before I started cutting, but I didn't. Oh well.
That brings the grand total for the week to 11 pillows - not too shabby, if I may say so myself. I have two more I'd love to finish before our holiday guests (hi Mom and Dad!) arrive next week and I am going to try to fit those in between Fatty's birthday, dentist appointments, hair cuts, swim meets and the like. I'd also like to make another dog bed, but I'm not counting on getting a chunk of time big enough for that endeavor. This is me trying to be realistic, you know.
I'd like to thank you all for following along and making pillows with me. I know that it is not the most exciting of blogging topics, but I hope you maybe learned a little something. I really enjoyed having a crafting focus and a reason to use all the pillow forms hanging around the sewing room. And, bonus, my family room is looking pretty darn good at the moment. Photos forthcoming. Pinky swear.
Oooh, I'd love to see how they really fit into your home with that living room photo. looking forward to it!

Pillows make such a difference. You did an awesome job--and I certainly did learn a few things along the way. Thank you!

You made me see that having a craft focus is good. Even though my pillow-making got pushed to this week, I was actually focused on what I needed to do beforehand so I could make the pillows. So, thank you my dear!

I love cushions, they make or break the look of a couch too! I bet you thought later that you could have done two fronts out of that fabric instead of one entire cushion, anyhow, that's what I would have thought...he!he! Thank you for sharing all of your tips with us!

11 pillows in one week is a pretty decent effort, well done! I love that red fabric you used. I like your dog's bed too, I might have to make one for my dog and cat, theirs are looking a bit shabby, thanks for the inspiration.

What! Be realistic?! Why would you want to do that??? Life is short, grab it by the horns and kick it's bum! :o)
I love that pillow fabric! I have a couch about the same color that I need to either make pillows for or recover what was there. I'm going to use your project as inspiration for color combinations, since the room is already red this would tie it together nicely!

Thank you! The video tutorials are awesome! Now if only my 1 and 3 year old would allow me enough time to make some pillows!

I can't wait to see photos of all of the pillows together! Thanks for pillow week. I didn't manage to get any pillows done (totally sidetracked although I really wanted to participate) but I had so much fun reading about yours!

Thanks for the motivation Erin, I got 4 completed, but even better was the motivation spread to me painting my daughter's bedroom and bed, which I had been putting off since the spring!
