About those triangles

Quilting with different fabrics and QuiltEssential giveaway

Have you ever wanted to move beyond quilting cotton to other fabrics in your quilts? I wrote a blog post for Sew, Mama, Sew about just that. It's full of good information to get you quilting with everything from denim to linen to velveteen and more. As part of the post, they are also hosting a giveaway of my book, QuiltEssential. Pop on over to throw your name in the hat!

Back here towards the end of the week with more on the triangles up there.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to win your book! I'll have to drop by Sew Mama Sew and put my name in :) Quick question: what's your favorite way to put up a quilt WIP on the wall? What're you using in the above picture? Thanks for the help. :)

How exciting to see you on SMS!

My quilt guild just added a copy of your book to our library, but I'd love to win a copy! Already commented on the giveaway page and have my fingers crossed! :)

Lisa - I use two widths of flannel that I sewed together for my design wall. Along the top edge, I placed small grommets about 12 inches apart and hung it on tiny finishing nails painted the same color as the wall. I also put a grommet on each bottom corner to keep it from flapping up. I can take it down easily and the nails are barely noticeable - you really have to know to look for them. Hope that helps! - Erin

Thanks for the fabric sewing tips! This is advice you don't see often in one location. You answered a couple of my fabric question in your post. The tips seem so simple yet they are key!! Thanks :)

Love how you used the black fabrics in your quilt top.
Congratulations on your book - it's just lovely!

Thank you! I've heard that I should use flannel, but I've been suspicious that it actually works. I think I'll give it a try, and I really like the grommet idea. Thank you for your help!
