Jane's Artist Trading Cards

Jane's atc

Cleaning out the kitchen last night, I stumbled across these artist trading cards that Jane painted last October. Using her own photos as reference, she used watercolors to render small snapshots of a trip that she and Fatty took to San Francisco over her fall break.  I find them completely charming and delightful - I think I will have them framed as a little memento for her. And I just love, love, love that she always finds a way to express herself creatively. She inspires me to continue my own painting practice and now I am itching to get to the studio later today. (Friday is painting day!!!!)

Finding these cards was perfect timing. One of my readers, Rose, has an active group of kids (ages 4 to 14) that swap artist trading cards like these. I told her that I would help her spread the word. I remember just how much fun my girls had when Blair and I hosted the kids atc swap six (!!!) years ago. If you think this is something you and your children would be interested in, you can find more information in Rose's group on Facebook.

Have a great weekend and Happy Valentine's Day!

Wow, I did not realize that your daughter also had the painting superpower nor can I believe that the ATC swap was that long ago. I remember when it took place and thinking it was mighty exciting for all people involved.

My mom showed this post to me! First of all, Jane, I love your art cards! They are beautiful!

I'm one who remembers your ATC swap!! Six years ago I was 12. I am almost 19 now and... I still have one of the friends I made with your swap.
Six years ago I lived in London (we are American and back in the States) and I was paired up with a girl in PA, among three other girls. Hannah and I began writing letters to each other and ended up best friends. We skyped and wrote letters. Now we write emails and text, as well as Skype (especially on New Years Eve) and the occasional letter. We've even written a novel together, as well as had a writing club that lasted four years. We've been besties for six years and often marvel at how we just happened to get partnered up at your ATC swap!! Without that, we never would have "met" each other (we have always dreamt, and still are dreaming about meeting each other in person some day hopefully soon.) So thank you. Without Hannah, I would have felt so so lonely, but with her I have a best friend that I love.
Your ATC swap was such fun and very worth it. I hope this one makes similar relationships happen!

Thanks again!
